Photography Workshop
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, we hosted the "Photography 101" workshop at the Willis Library, UNT. The event was designed to introduce the basics and fundamental concepts of photography to enthusiasts and aspiring photographers. It was ideal for those who have purchased equipment but haven’t yet had the chance to learn the essentials. This workshop was part of my ongoing efforts to share my decade-long experience in photography with the community, particularly focusing on providing accessible learning opportunities in North Texas.
During the workshop, we covered foundational topics such as composition and the elements that contribute to a good photograph. We delved into key photography concepts like depth of field, focal length, aperture, exposure value (EV), the exposure triangle, and ISO. Additionally, we discussed the different types of cameras, lenses, and sensors available, helping participants understand the technical aspects of their gear.
One of the highlights of the session was the practical demonstration segment, where we applied these concepts in real-time using our cameras. We ventured outside the library, allowing everyone to practice and gain hands-on experience with the techniques discussed. This interactive component was crucial in helping attendees connect theory with practice, reinforcing their learning through direct application.
The workshop was more than just an educational session; it was a platform for aspiring photographers to connect, share their passion, and learn from each other. For me, it was an incredibly rewarding experience to see participants' excitement and progress throughout the day. I deeply value these opportunities to foster a community of photographers and am committed to supporting their growth.
Looking ahead, I am excited to organize larger workshops in other locations such as Dallas, Plano, and Frisco. These future sessions will build on the success of our UNT event, offering more in-depth exploration of advanced topics and extended hands-on practice. My goal is to create a comprehensive learning journey for photography enthusiasts across the region.
